St. Peters Basilica Dome

One of the very few climbable things in this country. Since we're 'Climbing Europe', we cannot exclude this country (Vatican City) just because it doesn't have any routes a climber would get psyched about. The dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City is an iconic Renaissance masterpiece designed by Michelangelo, though it was completed by others after his death. It soars over the basilica, dominating the skyline with its grand, harmonious proportions and intricate details. The interior features stunning mosaics and is illuminated by natural light streaming through the lantern at the top. The dome's design reflects a blend of architectural brilliance and spiritual symbolism, emphasizing its central role in Catholicism.
